Irving Park Road Streetscape Viaduct East of Kilpatrick Ave. to Tripp Ave.
Irving Park Road from the viaduct east of Kilpatrick Ave. to Tripp Ave will be improved as the city renovates the street with infrastructure upgrades and decorative elements. These enhancements are part of a comprehensive streetscaping project designed by the City of Chicago Department of Transportation in close coooperation with community representatives and Alderman Cullerton.
The $4.4 million project consists of numerous aesthetic and architectural elements, including decorative lighting, a community clock, landscaped planters and neighborhood gateway identifiers highlighting the Old Irving Park and Portage Park Communities.
Thoughout construction, Irving Park Road will remain open to mortorists and pedestrians and access to businesses and residences will be maintained. In order to keep the street open to traffic, parking will not be allowed in the area of active construction. In addition, there will be periodic parking restrictions on some side streets.

- Decorative metal planter facing, benches, bike racks and waste containers.
- New pedestrian refuge island to improve the safety of pedestrians crossing Kilbourn Ave.

- The CTA bus routes will not be affected.
