April 11, 2012 Community Meeting Notes

Here is a brief summary of the Ward Improvement Projects discussed at the Community Meeting on Wednesday April 11, 2012.

Portage Park:
New locker room facilities indoor/outdoor pools
New decorative fencing around water fountain displays
Expanded DFA
Expanded parking lot - 25 new spaces
New landscaping on Long Avenue to eliminate sidewalk flooding (near Warner Avenue)

Merrimac Park:
New playground facility
Walkway replacement (N/S walkway west of playground)
New flagpoles for Veteran's Memorial space

Vacant Land at Irving Park Road & Oak Park Avenue:
Land Lease/Sale agreements with CPS and Chicago City Colleges
Upgrade of Oak Park Avenue between Montrose Avenue & Irving Park Road

Main Street Resurfacing and Street Marking Projects:
Milwaukee Avenue (Kilpatrick to Addison)
Laramie Avenue (Montrose to Belmont)
Irving Park Road (Harlem to Neenah)
Austin Avenue (Belmont to Addison)
Completion of Old Irving Park Streetscape Project

Alley Replacement: (new concrete alleys with sewers):
4500 Meade/McVicker Alley (Eastwood to Sunnyside)
4300 Austin/McVicker Alley (Montrose to Cullom plus "T"))

New Veterans' Hospital at Oak Park & Forest Preserve Drive - Fall 2012.
