Rahm's Readers: Summer Learning Challenge

Rahm's Readers is our Summer Learning Challenge for kids.
Get wild about summer learning as you explore the world of animals.
Read, discover, create and win prizes this summer
at Chicago Public Library.
Rahm's Readers is presented in partnership with Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Schools, The Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago, Brookfield Zoo/Chicago Zoological Society, Lincoln Park Zoo
and the Museum of Science and Industry.

Dog Friendly Area Clean Up at Portage Park

Saturday 9:00 AM
Clean-up scheduled for Saturday, July 26th, 9:00 am. In addition to our usual call for volunteers, we've got a truckload of pea gravel being delivered on Friday, and we need all the volunteers we can get to help move it around on Saturday morning! Please bring rakes, wheelbarrows, shovels - whatever you think will help!

We'll have donuts, coffee, and water!

Free Family Health Fair

Free screenings, activities and refreshments for the entire family. Plus, free gifts to the first 100 attendees!
Free blood pressure, body mass index, osteoporosis and vision screenings.
Fair will be held at the hospital in the 7th floor conference rooms.

Portage Park Garden Club

Saturday 9:30 AM
The guest speaker will be Marian Thill, Master Gardener and Cerified Naturalist, her presentation, called "Invite Someone New to Your Backyard", will feature how to attract birds and butterflies to your yard using native plants.
Refreshments will be served and guests are always welcome.

Seniors' Assistance Seminar

Representative Robert Martwick is co-hosting a Seniors' Assistance Seminar with Senator John Mulroe at the Copernicus Center Annex, 5216 W. Lawrence in Chicago. The Attorney General's office will speak about how to avoid becoming a victim of scams and fraud, the Citizens Utility Board will present about how to save money on utility bills and provide one-on-one help, and other agencies with services for seniors will be present as well.
