Registration is open for the 2013-14 school year for grades 3 year-old Pre-K through 8th grade. The school would like interested families to register for a tour. Please call the school at 773-736-9133 to schedule a date.
Little Red Tot Spot is a free playgroup (no charge) for children newborn to 3 years. The group gathers every Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Church Hall. It's a great way to meet new friends in the community.
Are you ready for t-ball? Children ages 3 through 6 years old are invited to play in St. Ed's summer t-ball program. T-ball is played at Mayfair Park, with one game per weekday evening and one game on Saturday. This is an Instructional League! The goal is to have FUN! No score is kept! The St. Ed's Youth Organization will supply team jerseys, bases, balls and bats. For an application, please email RSVP@stedwardschool.com.

Dunning Community Garden

Dunning Community Garden to start this spring near Wright College.
Volunteers are needed to help get the garden ready by building plots, moving soil, putting down mulch, etc. Registration for your individual plots will be available soon. The garden will have a harvest give-away component so gardeners who don't want to manage their own plot can come out and garden in the common gardens at their convenience. If you are interested in growing healthy, organic food for your family or for someone in need, or you just want to be part of the build, contact the Dunning Community Garden at

2013 Meat on Milwaukee Cookoff

Everyone love your outdoor cooking?
Show us what you've got! Join us for the 2013 Meat On Milwaukee Cookoff, sponsored by the Six Corners Association.
Our second annual neighborhood cookoff contest is being held at this year's Six Corners BBQ Fest, on Sunday June 16th.
We're looking for the best of the best backyard cooks to compete for trophy awards in our judged cook off competition. Categories will be chicken, and pork spare ribs. Meats to be supplied by Ellengee Cash and Carry.
We'll draw cooking teams to be contestants for this contest from the pool of entries. The Six Corners Association will select the final contestants based on the questions asked on the entry form. Contestants will be notified in early June. The entry fee of $30.00 is due upon notification. Details of how to make the payment will be in the notification email.

Join Portage Park Helping Hands for their very first Spring Gala event benefiting Portage Park School at Biago Banquets.
Tickets are on sale for $50/person or $450/table of ten.
The Silent Auction items are rolling in! They have an authentic signed football by Brian Urlacher, a signed football by the original "Rudy", gift baskets and cards from local businesses, hotel packages, spas and much more! The kids will be working on some really amazing art projects for the auction and they have a few surprises up their sleeves as well!
At the auction, PPHH will be unveiling their DISCOVER Initiatives! Business owners can benefit from this, so they hope to see you there.

That time of year when you need to clean out the winter treasures and find somewhere to sell those treasures. Bring those treasures to sell at the O A Thorp PTA SPRING FLEA MARKET each 10ft X 10ft space is only $20. Click on the form below. Complete and print out the form return it to school with your payment. It's that simple! After you have sold all your treasures you will be raking in more than just leaves.

Friends of Portage Park Farmer's Market

This Farmer's Market will be held on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of each month through October. Additional market dates are June 16th, June 30th, July 21st, August 4th, August 18th, September 15th, September 29th and October 6th. Vendors will include farmers from around the region, bakeries and other local food providers. There will also be free musical entertainment at each market. Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are also available to local businesses and organizations.

Car Wash

Three of the Vaughn School soccer teams qualified for the Special Olympics State Tournament on June 14th-June 16th at Illinois State University.
Donations are being accepted at the car wash to raise money for the teams.
During the car wash they will be selling raffle tickets for an IPad Mini. The raffle tickets are $5.00 and the raffle will be held on June 5th at 2pm. All proceeds will be going directly to the athletes in Special Olympics.
