"Bonjour Tristesse" Film Screening

Monday 8:00 PM
The Northwest Chicago Film Society will be continuing screenings at the Patio Theater, 6008 W Irving Park Road with a 35mm screening of BONJOUR TRISTESSE. Note that the air conditioning at the Patio has not yet been repaired, but the Film Society figured this film is summer-y enough that it'll be atmospheric rather than oppressive.

Building Teams with S.T.E.A.M. with Kidworks

This program is part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's "Full STEAM Ahead Summer Learning Challenge" which focuses on the science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) framework for young students and their parents/caregivers. This session will focus on children ages 4 to 12. Registration is not required.

As part of the "Summer 2013 Lecture Series on Urban Agriculture" sponsored in conjunction with the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences, at 1:00pm there will be a lecture by Melanie Hoekstra.

Dunning-Read Conservation Area 2013 Stewardship Days

Thursday 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Help us restore this 23-acre natural area. Dunning offers woods, meadows and several remnant wetlands- a rare find within an urban environment.
Meet behind the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center near the red shed. Entrance is at 4200 N. Oak Park Ave., just north of Irving Park(follow the fire lane to the south of the hospital around to the back.) Wear sturdy shoes, long pants/long sleeve shirt and wear layers appropriate for the weather.

Friends of Portage Park Farmer's Market

Sunday 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
This Farmer's Market will be held on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of each month through October. Additional market dates are August 4th, August 18th, September 15th, September 29th and October 6th. Vendors will include farmers from around the region, bakeries and other local food providers. There will also be free musical entertainment at each market. Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are also available to local businesses and organizations.
