Personal History

Prior to becoming alderman, Thomas Allen served as an administrative and legislative assistant to the 38th Ward and had worked as a trial attorney in the criminal justice system for seventeen years. He graduated with honors from Kent College of Law and Cum Laude from Illinois Benedictine College. He is an alumnus of Holy Cross High School.

Tom Allen is married to the former Janis Groya and they are the parents of four children, Tom (age 25), Sarah (age 24), Kevin (22), and Claire (age 19).
