Illegally Converted Rooming Houses

Among the most critical problems Alderman Allen has addressed is the existence of illegally converted rooming houses. Alderman Allen has confronted this problem head on by creating a task force to identify, investigate, and close down the illegal rooming houses. Alderman Allen’s task force has been so successful that Mayor Daley has made it the model to be used throughout the City of Chicago.

Neighborhood Preservation

In addition, Alderman Allen has been able to preserve the character of residential areas by increasing the number of local streets and alleys repaved, banning peddlers, and forcing unwanted industry, such as an asphalt dumping site, to relocate out of the area.
