City Services

A building permit gives you, your insurance company, your neighbors and the City assurance that specific minimum standards are met in constructing, altering, or repairing your home by complying with the Chicago Building Code. The Neighborhood Residential Permit Center can assist you with all of your building permit needs.

Garage sales are limited to 3 consecutive days between 9:00am and sunset. Permits are free and must be displayed during the sale period. Each household is entitled to 2 permits per year.

The Private Drain Program was introduced to alleviate homeowners' financial burden for sewer repairs in the public way.

Residential parking permit stickers and visitor passes are available for purchase at the City Clerk's City Hall Office or at one of the satellite offices.

All condominium associations and townhouses not eligible for city garbage pick-up are entitled to a rebate on their private scavenger service.
