Help Support Maryville Crisis Nursery
Tax Check-Off Program
The Illinois Department of Revenue has added a new entity to 2009 income tax form Schedule G for voluntary charitable donations. The new entity is the Crisis Nursery Coalition of Illinois, composed of six crisis nurseries. Speaking for the coalition, Amy Kendal-Lynch, director of the Maryville Crisis Nursery in Chicago, noted, " This is a wonderful and painless way to make a meaningful contribution to keep at-risk children, newborn to six, safe during a family crisis." Ms. Kendal-Lynch added, "When filing their returns, people need only check-off item J on schedule G and write in the amount they wish to donate ($1 or more). The amount donated will be deducted from their refund or added to the amount owed. Proceeds from the crisis nurseries donations will benefit the six nurseries in Illinois."
The coalition nurseries, staffed with professional care-givers and trained volunteers, provide 24/7 crisis care for children, six and under, whose families are experiencing crises that might put these children at risk.
The coalition's six nurseries are: Children's Home + Aid, Bloomington; Maryville Crisis Nursery, Chicago; Crittenton Center, Peoria; MotherHouse, Rockford; Mini O'Beirne, Springfield; and Crisis Nursery, Urbana.
